TreatIBS is for information only. It is not medical advice.
Nothing on this site is a substitute for the judgement of a physician, dietitian, or other licensed clinician who knows your history. TreatIBS has not evaluated your condition and cannot. Do not start, stop, or change any treatment, diet, supplement, or medication because of something you read here without talking to a clinician first.
About the content
- Research summaries and critiques describe what a published study reported and what its limits are. They are not conclusions about what will help you, and a positive study is not a recommendation.
- Treatment pages report what clinical guidelines and studies say. Guideline bodies disagree with each other, and the evidence for most IBS treatments is graded low or very low by the groups that produce those guidelines.
- Stories are individual experiences that people chose to share publicly. They are not evidence. Results are not typical, and one person’s account tells you nothing reliable about what will happen for you.
- Trial listings are republished from public registries for information. A listing is not recruitment, not a recommendation to enrol, and not an endorsement of the trial, its sponsor, or its intervention.
